Day 365 James Vincent McMorrow – When I Leave [Free Download]

James Vincent McMorrow - Red DustAs a second year on this blog draws to a close, it seems only appropriate to end the 365 days with a real treat. Not only a physical treat (it’s a free download!), this is a proper musical treat too. Slightly unexpectedly, the heroic James Vincent McMorrow has followed-up January’s ‘Post Tropical’ LP with a towering new single, When I Leave. Having spent the majority of 2014 touring, When I Leave is a musical embodiment of his times on the road, showing the strength and passion of his natural song-writing flair within continuously changing environments. As ever, James’ vocals are the sublime focal point of the track, however its overall R&B groove, contorting beat and atmospheric synths ensure that his mesmerising voice is in good company.

James Vincent McMorrow – “I’ve been recording when I can over the summer, on the floors of festival dressing rooms, in hotels, I’ve been waiting for everyone to fall asleep so I can track vocals in the back lounge of the bus. Making ‘Post Tropical’ definitely lit a fire. There’s no plan for any of it, I have an album in the world and it is rightfully taking up a lot of my energy, but I’ve plenty of energy to go around, I’d like to start putting out some ideas while the ink is still wet, I want people to hear them, to know what they are when we play them live during the autumn Euro and US tours.”

I for one can’t wait to hear more.

Thank you for all your support this year; it’s been a pleasure.
