Back on the 16th December 2012, I featured a virtually anonymous London trio on this blog called London Grammar, and their first ever release, Hey Now. Since then, as many of you will know, the band have gone on to become one of the biggest breakthrough artists of 2013, achieving a platinum selling debut album, whilst gaining a hallowed BRIT nomination in the process. Eventually ending up as their album opener, Hey Now is currently experiencing an official re-release that arrives with the customary swathe of big-name remixes. Amongst the official remixers are Russian house producer Arty and German DJ Tensnake, however my favourite comes from British producer Bonobo. Light and dynamic, Bonobo’s ‘s heart-stopping interpretation of Hey Now is fascinatingly smooth and complex, taking nothing away from original’s icy precision, but simply adding to perfection with a bigger tribal beat and a whole new level of elevated depth, right across the track. Purchase the remix and original here.
