Almost two years ago, in March 2012 I stumbled onto the big boss of music blogs, Hype Machine for the first time and hearted my first ever song; a moment which when looking back marks the definitive start of my love affair with music blogging. That song, Chet Faker’s I’m Into You sat proud at the top of the Hype Machine chart and opened my eyes to a world of music out there that I never new existed, but in reality was only ever really a couple of clicks away. So, since stealing my heart back in 2012, I have followed Chet’s journey with pride, featuring him countless times on these pages, but now the time has finally come for him to step away from his countless side-projects and divert his entire focus upon the release of his debut album, ‘Built On Glass’ (April 14th). The first single to be released from the record, Talk Is Cheap sees Chet at his warm, jazzy best. Combining an eclectic mix of summery genres, Talk Is Cheap feels like the pinnacle of Chet Faker’s work to date, smoothly scything by with an air of confidence and style that is undeniably infectious. If Chet’s velvety vocals weren’t enough, behold the songs’ brilliant stop-motion video below and watch Chet’s face (and iconic beard) freeze and thaw in exotic detail. This is a must see and listen.
