Off the back of his prized appearance on the BBC Sound of 2014 longlist, golden folkie Nick Mulvey debuted his brand new single Cucuracu as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record In The World last night. Mulvey’s raw, natural sound is heard at its heart-warming best on Cucuracu, silkily floating by with a maze of Hispanic influenced melodies and rhythms that will instantly transport you to some far off sandy beach, even in the coldest of winter months. Although Mulvey’s inclusion on the BBC sound poll longlist was initially a surprise to me, Cucuracu is a great indication that he’s really worth his place amongst 2014’s rising stars.
