Wow, wow, wow. Released via. The Fader less than an hour ago, Wolf Alice’s new single Blush has literally blown my mind apart. Granted Fluffy and She were great singles, however newbie Blush enters an entirely new realm in comparison. The songs humble guitar and vocals introduction is icy yet alluring, slowly garnering a subtle atmospheric growth behind it from washy synths and a lonely drum tap. Eventually Blush explodes with a generous injection of grungy venom, that snarls beautifully before softly retreating to its cowering position in the corner, just as it began. Released on the Chess Club Records label (who incidentally are smashing every release they turn their heads to at the moment), Blush has set the bar incredibly high. I can’t wait to see these guys play Gathering Festival next month.
