Day 178 To Kill A King – Children Who Start Fires

Gifted with a copy of the brand new To Kill A King album, ‘Cannibals With Cutlery’ months ago, I have frustratingly had to keep my opinions on their debut album under wraps until it was finally released in the shops. The record dropped today and to say it is absolutely brilliant is an understatement. With a broad range of engaging singles, my stand out favourite has to be Children Who Start Fires, a stunning show-piece of authentic song-writing that calls upon the incredibly real, childhood images of front-man Ralph Pellymounter. The songs outstanding acoustic melody maintains a sweet elegance throughout, meandering amongst Ralph’s heart-felt vocals, a muffled beat and sumptuous strings that melt gracefully over this blissfully original track. Superlatives aside, if you would like to hear/learn more about To Kill A King, I did an interview with the band for this blog last year; if you would like to check it out, click on the link at the top of the page or simply press here!
