159 Gabriel Bruce – Perfect Weather

Everything about Gabriel Bruce’s Perfect Weather seems to make me smile. Although originally a relatively dark song in nature, its funky clumsiness and rousing, sing-along chorus is delivered with a tremendous gusto that is plenty of fun to listen to. The video is also a brilliant purging of emotions that presents pain and suffering through interpretive dance set upon the edge of a cliff, in a fascinatingly bizarre and often amusing music video that had me gripped throughout. Saving the best for last however, Bruce’s incredible, baritone vocals are the stand-out feature on this track, delivered with a depth and clarity that swept me away. Arguably on a par with singers such as Matt Berninger (The National) and Tom Smith (Editors), Gabriel Bruce appears to be part of a small minority of bruising, baritone vocalists that I for one would love to see more of in the near future. Lets see if 2013 can deliver…
